Monopoly Revolution - A New Twist On The Classic Game
Monopoly is one game that never seems to go out of style. And, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of this popular title, it's now been released in a new circular edition known as Monopoly Revolution. Always fun for all ages, this game has now been listed as one of the "Dream 12" Christmas gifts for children in 2010.
What's So Special About Monopoly Revolution?
You may be wondering what makes this edition of the game any different from those you may have played before - but there have been some important changes that make it even more fun!
This new Monopoly game works much like the older one, but it's now got a modern, round board and an electronic unit to keep track of where you are on the board. As you pass certain milestones you'll hear exciting new sound effects and clips of songs, including "Drive My Car" by the Beatles, and "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang.
This new set also comes with electronic banking (no more messing around with the fiddly paper money) and new movers.
Some of the features include:
* The ability to turn the new music on and off as you wish,
* Sounds of the jail door slamming,
* Or a party tune when you pass go.
As most people know, the game itself revolves around buying properties and building up on them to collect fines when the other players land on your spots. The game can take a while to get through - eventually one player will have a Monopoly of the board thanks to their hotels and houses!
Monopoly Revolution requires critical thinking, so it's a great choice for children as it's also fun. But there is an element of luck involved with the Chance cards - as you pick your card the electronic unit will make a sound based on the outcome.
This new game requires 3x AAA batteries to play, which are sold separately.
Should You Buy Monopoly Revolution For Your Child?
At around £25 or lower, this is an affordable Christmas gift for 2010 that the whole family can play together. It isn't suitable for the very youngest children, though, as it does require knowledge of adding up your money and following specific rules.
If you've already got Monopoly then you may not want to replace it, unless your board is getting a little tired or you want to experience the fun new electronic elements to get your kids excited about playing. But for those who want a new game then this is the perfect choice!
