In 1982, Robert Schlaifer secured the license to produce the Little People and changed the name to Cabbage Patch Kids. An empire was born.

According to the story created by Schlaifer and his wife, Susanne, the imaginative character Xavier Roberts discovered the Cabbage Patch Kids in a valley full of magic.

The evil Lavendar McDade wanted to pluck the babies from the cabbage patch as they were born but Xavier decided to save them by finding them each homes before she could get her hands on them.

A number of companies have obtained the license to produce Cabbage Patch Kids throughout the years, including Hasbro and ToysRUs, and a number of different varieties were developed.

Now manufactured by Play Along, Cabbage Patch Kids Babies with various skin tones and hair types are hitting store shelves again just in time for the holiday season.
